Cold Escape
Posted On 01/02/2006 08:07:43 by bodebrdingchick
In less than a week, I get to escape the cold tundra of the East Coast to greet sunny California!

Back home (Maryland/Delaware) we have had few waves here and there, but you really have to think if it's worth it to put on that 5/4/mm wetsuit, with 5-7mm booties and gloves. Then, to squeeze my fat head in a hood that nearly smothers me to death, paddle out in the cold when my arms and legs are stiff, only to then duckdive numerous waves on the head leaving me nice ice-cream headaches! It takes a bit of dedication and crazyness, but I'll do it for one great wave.

Southern California, on the other hand, has had solid OH+ swell for several weeks now. I am guaranteed waves! I leave Jan 8th at 6am, which means I must leave my house at like 4am! I will arive in the afternoon, planned perfectly to fit in an afternoon session. I extended my stay until the 22nd to ensure good waves and good times.

Anyone in the SoCal area (San Clemente, Newport, San Diego) who wants to meet up for a surf, get in touch with me! For convenience, I will surf at Salt Creek and T-Street, and go back and forth to La Jolla area.

Ahhh...how nice it will be to put on my 3/2 again, free as a bird!

See you all in the line-up. Say what's up to the East Coast sponger chick!!!
