Vertra Sunscreen Reports to Jeff Hubbard- Hey, I was calling because Kirby Fukunaga has a sick website called Go-naminori.com. It is catered to the Japan surf, Bodyboard and photo industries but he has developed quite a following here locally as well cause he blogs about diving, food, travel and misc stuff related to Hawaii and the world.
He is averaging about 10-20K hits a day. He has a couple of Japanese body boarders on there doing blogs and it’s helped tremendously with their images and sponsors in Japan. They are able to use it as a forum to introduce their sponsors new products and stuff.

Charity Bodyboarding Competition and Beach Fest, Presented by Honest Tea, to take place this August 16-17 (Hold period 8/14-8/17) at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, NJ. Come rock out with your fellow bodyboarders and support some great causes in the process — we’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds to local and national charities. Today at El Gringo we finished the finals of the 5th stop on the IBA world tour. With good 8 feet sets, the best bodyboarders on the globe fought it out for the Arica Chilean Challenge.

The final was between Brazilian Guilherme Tâmega and Hawaiian Jeff Hubbard. Tâmega started the heat at 100% getting 4 waves in the first 10 minutes. One of this waves he scored a 9.5 in a 3 session tube that made the crowd go crazy. After he caught another tube and scored a 7 point wave.
At this stage, Jeff could only watch Tamega surf. The waves that Jeff paddled for were closing out. As time passed, things got a bit difficult for Jeff with Tâmega holding him to a 16 points combination at the final.
He was unstopable…
“I needed this victory, I felt that something really good was coming. When I knew that would get Jeff on the final I said, I need to win this time(Tâmega loss to Jeff in the 2006 final). I am really stoked and now I will fight for the world title.” said the champion Guilherme Tamega.

Autograph Signings at Sport Chalet Irvine, Long Beach, and Huntington Beach Stores Friday August 22nd!
The 2008 USBA/Sport Chalet Regional Tour narrows to its one-month mark. Riders such as Jeff Hubbard, Dave Hubbard, Spencer Skipper and even riders from around the world such as Jose Marquina have committed their travel plans to attending this year’s Sport Chalet Huntington Beach Pro. Along with the field of USBA top riders. California’s such as Jeremy Wright look to defend their home turf in the first USBA event on Huntington Beach soil. Jeremy “the California kid” was reached for a statement and said, “It’s amazing all the support the USBA has received this year through media, sponsors, and riders. The Hawaiian bodyboarders have been dominating this year but having an event so close to home is going to give all the California bodyboarders an edge for sure!”
With a large push in the California region this past year we are sure to see new names from California besides Jeremy’s in the top ten of the USBA.
