my new ATD
Posted On 10/07/2008 19:21:38 by akumahunter
I got my ATD board and took it out to okuragahama today. it was small 2.5ft waves but nice left and right breaks. I was amazed at how easy it is to manuver. And it's fast!!! Just a few kicks to take off. Duck diving was a dream it sucked my down under and popped me back up with almost no effort. The fluid rail drive is awesome and will take some getting use to. It makes some cool rooster tails too!!! I tried to nose it in and get flipped over but I couldn't. haha... This a great board and I am already planning on getting another one soon.

Okuragahama in the typhoon
Posted On 09/20/2008 09:53:27 by akumahunter
Went sponging in the typhoon on Thursday. Was a little dissapointing. The waves weren't as big as I hoped. But they were breaking nice. The current was crazy strong pulling us south. Caught a few long rides. Just trying to get out was a good test of my endurance haha..It was really cool cause we had the beach all to ourselves. Two bodyboarders and two suerfers(all foreigners). There was alot of crap floating around.  My friend found a good sized log.hehe...The hard rain and strong wind really added to the whole experience. Loved it!!

Kanegahama
Posted On 08/18/2008 08:55:15 by akumahunter
Went sponging this weekend at Kanegahama.  The waves were incredible. Friday was overhead, solid 7 ft. was wicked. I was at a river mouth and some really strong undertow.  The waves were a clean right hand break with some nice tube action.  They were breaking about 200 meters out, which made for some long rides. About 150 to 200 meter rides. Saterday was even bigger with 10 ft sets every 11minutes.  I only caught 1 ride and paddling back out got caught between the sets and my leash got ripped off my board. just snapped the cord right off.hahaha..... It was hella fun.  Now I am using my surfboard leash hahaha.... I look like a real poser now.

Getting a ATD board
Posted On 08/14/2008 11:33:30 by akumahunter
My wonderful wife said I can buy a custome ATD board today and I am so stoked. I have been reading the ATD post and it got me all "excited". I cant wait to finish work and go home to fill in that ohhh so sweet online order form. I was going  to get the rail2rail, but now I think I am going to go for a custom board. I am looking for some sweet graphics to put onit,  since the price for having it done isnt that much.  Its going to take awhile for it to come, but I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes once it gets here. I'll post a pic or two so you can all see how it looks. Thanks for letting me share, I am just so jazzed I have to tell everyone.

hey guys
Posted On 08/11/2008 21:55:25 by domobb
Hey guys i just came back from a sort of surf trip, well not really a trip but the only time i wasnt at school or studying i was body boarding. I had lots of nice sessions but my best session was yesterday morning. It started of as a nice shallow sand bank brake, a good solid 2.5-3m set came through every 15 seconds about, and the normal waves were about 1.5-2m. The waves were barreling really clean and the barrel rate for the size of the wave me and many people would probably give a 10! Well I caught probably the best wave of my life on one of the sets. I dropped in on the wave and bottom turned right. As i started trimming the wave it barreled over my head just about but i couldnt see the lip yet. I had built up alot of speed and I sped out of the barrel and kept trimming. Soon the lip had broken over me and i could see the barrel infront of me (the lip). I kept on going and after about 3 seconds the wave closed out and i poped up the top still on my board. I was stoked, for it being the best barrel i had ever ridden and made out of. Thats my blog and i hope you enjoy it.

Just like Brian Wilson did....

So grateful to be back out in the water today! (well yesterday!) Surfed a nice section of beach in Oceanside and was reminded to just make the best use of every day! The water was warm and blue/green, not a cloud in the sky and a really chill vibe. The waves were on the small side. But, every so often, a nice set would roll through. I was able to catch a few rides, nothing spectacular... but after nearly a year of basically no waves...l was just glad to be out there! I was apprehensive since I haven't been able to close my left eye completely for about 7 months now. I tried swimming in just a pool a couple months back and got out screaming in pain after trying to swim underwater. Man! Having health problems and getting old just totally SUCKS! And, I haven't been dealing with it very well. I've basically been really pissed and depressed and wasting a lot of valuable time "lying in bed, just like Brian Wilson did...".  Not helpful.Anyways,... I finally got my ass up and headed down south for a surf trip. Car packed up with my tent, bodyboard and ample tunes for the 10 hours drive down the coast. Missed the turn out and stayed on the 101 farther than I'd expected. Instead of the beautiful coastline, I was locked in the valley. Beautiful, but still heightening my anticipation for the sight, smell and feel of the ocean. Then it happened.... somewhere around Carpenteria. I was smiling and admiring the beauty of the great Pacific, when I just became overcome with emotion. As my... Read More

Okuragahama
Posted On 08/08/2008 13:29:44 by akumahunter
the waves were sweet today. Overhead with nice left and right breaks.  It was wicked cause the waves were inverted Vs so I could catch one, ride it out and then hop over onto the next one for a second short ride before gettin dumped. Plus it raining hard with lightning and thunder, which just adds to the funky mood of the ocean. Finish work in 3 hours and going back at it till dark.(maybe haha..)
