Friday was great, went to watch hill. one of my pals Pat (he’s a shortboarder) went to gannsett, said it was setting up nicely there for him as well. Had such a great time I had to get online and write about it, check it out, it’s the only blog I’ve written here. Might have exaggerated a bit, but its more fun that way=)
Bummer about the comp, what was the surf like down there? Do you have a time limit or do you get a certain amount of waves? I’ve never seen a comp, was going to go to the one in gansett but I had class and work that Sat. Are there any others up this way?
You have a beach break by your house but surf RI?! Are there no good beaches by you? Theres nothing by me (I live in Groton) I’ve got Fishers Island and Long Island in the way, so WH is the closest. An hour isn’t bad. I’ve got a buddy that just moved to Boston, he says its going to hurt the amount of time he goes sailing, I told him he must not like it enough!
Just how cold is ‘freakin cold’ btw, lol?! The coldest I’ve done is 40 deg air temp in Feb. (I know, not that cold, give me a break, I just started!). its dependent more on my schedule than cold factor, I used to work as a diver and would go in below 0 weather, so I might be able to handle sponging in the cold, although being exposed to the air is what kills you… I have to find a good pair of booties this year, I only have a pair of 2mm, and had to buy the next larger pair of vipers to fit them. Any suggestions on places for equip? I just go to ebodyboarding.

Never been to Newport, is it better than gansett? I don’t know if I would ever drive that far when WH is only ½ hour away, unless its really worth it. your ride has to be pretty long from MA! Thanks for the pointers on GH, really want to give it a try if we get any surf… its been sooo flat! How’s the comp going? You said the next few weeks…how long is it? I figured it was only a couple of days, but I guess you cant have it if there aren’t any waves, how has the surf been down there? Where is it, SC, or Fl I thought?
40’s, NPT? Where’s that? I went on a ride the other night and scoped out Green Hill and Matunuk as well as some others, def wanna try GH, but I gotta talk one of my buddies into going, don’t like riding solo the first time at a place, gotta worry about more than just currents when you’re a chick.
Went yesterday and fooled around in the mush at gansett with my buddy tim, good guy, longboarder though! Got him to try bbding yesterday but he started getting leg cramps after a half hour wearing my vipers, heh, oh well, no converts this week!
Good luck in the comp, sure u will do fine looking at your pics, (are those all u, btw?). How does it work, is there just a bbd comp or is it broken down into dk and prone? There’s surf comp then too right?
Hey bro, yea i def think that i've seen a few. I only know of a handful of riders that can DK. Ive been known to ride at gansett but i ride at other spots alot more.
Yea, I dont surf gansett that often, I'm usally at east beach in watch hill, the wave is alot faster there. cant wait for the hurricanes to start comming up the coast, nothing i love better than dropping down the face of a storm wave! u dk only or prone ride as well?
