No sharks but we have sturgeon that are a bit pesky at the worst of times....

Fresh water!!  Bouyancy is a little less than the ocean.  Lake Superior can be quite treacherous when the stroms hit.  Many ships have sunk in it.  It's the lake that thinks it's an ocean!

ya man, i thought like 45 degrees was cold haha, your like my new hero man, oh and ive wondered how do the lakes get waves???

 

The Great Lakes are big enough that if enough wind sweeps across one of them for long enough, it'll create a decent windswell.  If the wind suddenly shifts in the opposite direction, the conditions really clean up.  Because the Great Lakes are small compared to the oceans, the wave sets are more frequent and the period is really short.  Also, the swells are VERY short, like a few hours!  You gotta be willing to drop whatever you're doing and tap into it.

Thanks for dropping by.  Yeah, the temperature was pretty cold that day.  A few degrees below freezing, that's for sure!!
