I was at Torrey Pines (north) yesterday for 4 hours. I think 2 of those hours were trying to get back out. It was 4-7' with an occasional rogue (Lil' bigger) set. I got waxed on a closeout and thrown to the bottom. Got a lil' roughed up. Surf was powerful but very washing machiney. Closeout City! I took in a lot of water. Wasn't a great day. I'm sore. for So I am gonna rest and listen to the Aztecs win the Mountain West Conf.

I'm surprised you've never heard the washing machine analogy. I imagine it would be helpful to have ever looked at what goes on inside one of them. It was a little bit like this.

And agreed, the waves made no sense whatsoever, crossing in all sorts of chaotic directions, with an ever pounding river toward shore. Several times I turned around and there were waves breaking OUT, away from shore, which you could ride for a little while before the incoming chaos which wound up making you look like this.

And this hasn't got anything to do with anything other than it's a damn cool pic and this escape artist managed to live through it.

I was gunna say it makes no fucking sense because the waves don't come for the left and right and all other directions but now that you say they did then that was one weird ass surf

The strong backwash was causing counter waves as you described on Friday at Torrey Pines. I also got taken out twice by a nasty rip and had to do the paddle sideways scene. Washing Machine.....super spin cycle. Heard Black's was nasty and big. My nephew looked like a day at North Shore when he came back.

Anyone paddling out today in sd? Looking for some company in the water.

Going up to Torrey, but not 'till later. Wife doesn't share my affection for the surf and she'll go on a hike while I go out for a while, it will be low tide and like just enough to get wet and that's all (sigh.) Probably around 2 ish.

Surflies strikes again! 2-3 equals 0-suck. Didn't even paddle out. Previous 3 days didn't live up to the hype around here either. Still waiting for something half way decent.
