Ernesto came and went and I friggin missed all of it.
Saturday the water looked like a living hell. Huge w
aves coming in all over like a frenzy. Very chaotic.<
>BR But apparently Sunday was the day of all days over h
ere. And I missed it! The Bodyboarding pro ser
ies was held here on the 3rd and the conditions could not h
ave been better. Check out this site for sweet bodyb
oarding pics of the pros in NJ. Very cool. http://www.localswell.co

Man, I was so happy that June and July kicked major arse.&n
bsp; August has been so freaking flat over here. Whe
n there is a bump in the water, it's small and weak and the
re are tons of surfers on it. It's a desparate situat
ion. I can't wait for September. Hopefully a f
ew Atlantic storms will kick up some surf over here. And it will be nice once school starts. Less people
in the water. I am going to try to hit waves tomorrow
. Small front coming thorugh that hopefully will give
me at least a knee high set in the morning. I hope.
.............
Waves have been pretty damn good so far this Summer.
A few really good days and the rest of the time, the waves
were fun. No flat spells yet but I am sure they will
come. Plan on hitting the surf tomorrow AM and Frida
y AM. Water is nice and warm. Around 63-65 I wo
uld guess. Watched Open Water the other night and it
freaked me out. Gives me something to think about wh
ile I am floating in the ocean all alone at 7 in the mornin
g. Well, that is all. Found some "secret" surf
spots yesterday that gives me a solid Plan B, should I hav
e to work out of our main office. Peace.
Man this morning was a great session!!! I missed o
ut yesterday with some TS Alberto action but I got the left
overs this morning. And they were some tasty leftover
s.
About chest high on the biggest sets but they pee
led so excellent. Just a beautiful morning. Wat
er is in the low to mid 60s, sun is out, no clouds, glassy
surf. It was amazing.
I wish I got in on the a
ction yesterday but it was a small window and nobody was ex
pecting any swell to come in.
Man I love this sport!
!!!
Got back in the water this week. Wednesday sucked but
it was good to get back in the ocean and float around on m
y new board. Today was better. Overall a 4 out
of 10 but I had some fun rides. Nothing epic but fun
. Knee to thigh high. Water is in the upper 50
s and it is just me in my 2/1 spring suit. But I have
no problem with that. Put on 15 pounds over the win
ter and I am planning on dropping them before the end of Ju
ne.
Well, less than 2 weeks before Spring arrives! Sweet.
With a warmer than normal Winter, hopefully it won't
be too long before I put on my suit and hit the ocean.&nbs
p; Still, March and April can be snow storm hell. We
shall see. I have 2 months to drop the 15 pounds I pu
t on over the Winter. One good thing is that there is
a major flat spell here so I don't feel too jealous of the
guys with the dry suits.
Well, it has been a while since I've posted here. Or
visited, for that matter. Haven't been in the ocean s
ince late October. Not a fan of 40 degree water no ma
tter how much better the waves are during the Winter here i
n New Jersey. Bought a new board after Christmas.&nb
sp; I have a Custom X Bull sitting in my basement making me
drool every time I am down there to work out or do laundry
. Extremely anxious to use it since I haven't had a n
ew board since I bought my Morey Mach 8-TX back in the earl
y 90s. But I still won't give up my O'Neil springsui
t. Unless it gives up on me. Can't believe I st
ill fit into it!
I am going to be hitting the beach tomorrow morning
before work. Heading to Sea Girt, NJ. Wake up
at 6 AM. It will be cool outside and dark. I wi
ll debate over going back to bed for another 45 mins. or he
ad out the door. I will get to the beach around 6:45
AM and look at a flat ocean. Maybe there will be some
waves where it will be worth getting up so early. If
so, I will get in and catch some knee high waves. Ho
pefully there will be bigger sets but nothing is brewing in
the Atlantic right now. I will sit in the water all
alone and wait for a wave. All the while thinking of
jelly fish, sharks and work. Or there will be some su
rf and I will have to share with a long boarder or other su
rfers. And it will be worth it. Still wondering
when the beach showers will be turned off.
