Challenge

Gaining wave knowledge was 50% of my learning to bodyboa
rd. The other 50% was effort and duck diving. I learned by
going out by myself during high tide at Ala Moana beach. I
went out during some pretty rough waves. And I got my but k
icked by those waves a lot. I had a lot to learn. But
I learned it and now I can catch waves pretty well. I love
it. I only have one more week left in Hawaii and I'm really
gonna miss surfing. When I get home, I'll have to travel t
o Florida to continue bodyboarding. And I know the waves wo
nt be has a good. Hawaii is great and I'm really gonna miss
it.

sp;  I've been in Hawaii now for 2 weeks. I have no wa
ter back home where I'm from (Memphis,Tn). I'm a good swimm
er, but I'd never bodyboarded before. So when I got to Oahu
I bought a bodyboard. I went out alone and not knowing I n
eeded fins. I had no idea what I was doing. So I'm working
my way to the line up, getting wiped out by white water. I
finally made it to the line up. So I started asking surfers
what I was supposed to be doing. They were really nice and
helpful. So on the way back to shore I got caught in a cha
nnel w/no fins so I had to get a lifeguard to jet ski back.
I bought fins and kept trying. I got the wrong kinda fins
and lost them the same day. I went and got more, still not
the right kind but they lasted about a week before I lost t
hem. So I kept trying, kept learning, and now at week 2 I'm
officially a bodyboarder.
