I'll be home soon, hanging with the family, drinking a beer
, and riding again. Oh man, it's gonna rock just being i
n the water again. Until I left, I hadn't been away from bo
dyboarding for more than 3-4 days. I wonder if I'll still b
e pulling the same stuff out there, or if i forgot. Maybe i
t's like ridin' a bike, haha. Just in time for the
winter swells too!
So it hit 115 degrees yesterday, yuck! No water in si
ght except for the yummy drinking water, blah. The cool thi
ng is, i saw a 3 ft long viper squirming around today. It s
aw me and took off. So since I can't bodyboard out here (ob
viously), i think about it quite a bit. I'm pretty settled
on a mike stewart wetsuit and a Nomad Lackey DK board. W
ell, I'm off to see the wizard.
I've had some time to train lately, pretty much every da
y. Yesterday I discovered my new favorite combination from
the standing fighting position: the shoulder throw to armba
r. Well, it's my easiest anyway. Sorry i can't talk about a
nice swell, but all i have out here is my other hobby: mix
ed martial arts. Keep it real
You know, being here really makes you think about how great
everything but here is. I'm getting thoughts of traveling
and seeing the beauty of the world that lies out there when
i get back. I want to hit north shore and a few others for
sure. There's alot of real eye openers out here, so when i
get back on free ground (and water), everything's gonna be
sweeter. the swells are all gonna be good, the food is gon
na taste better, spending time with my daughter is gonna be
so amazing, and the water......the water will be bluer. On a lighter note, i got a ROT mag in a care package a cou
ple days ago. Pretty stoked about that.
Another hot crappy day here in the sandbox. The good news i
s, I won't be here forever. The bad news is I can't get out
of here soon enough. I'm thinking of buying a new board an
d wetsuit when i get home. I'm thinking an NMD or Custom X,
but not sure at the moment. I'm flooded with work, but sti
ll had a chance to call all the mothers in my life on Sunda
y. Thank goodness for the 12 hour time difference (it was 2
AM over here when i called them) Well, i'm out for now

So here I am in Iraq dreaming of my family and green/blu
e Socal waves hitting my back. Damn, i can't wait to get ho
me and enjoy the swells and sunsets again, because God know
s I don't leave the water until 8:00 every night. I'm think
ing of hitting up Newport beach as soon as i get home. I al
so get to play with my band again. Damn i miss it. Well, ba
ck to work
